National Brownfield Associations

WHO ARE WE?
The National Brownfield Associations (NBA), an alliance between NBA USA and NBA Canada, is an international membership organization. We are the only nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible and sustainable redevelopment of brownfields on a consistent basis. (Not sure what a brownfield is? Find out.)

The NBA is unique because our membership consists of both public and privates sector stakeholders involved with sustainable brownfield redevelopment—it is your link between brownfields and green development.

IMPROVING THE WORLD
The NBA believes that the best way to improve the environment, conserve resources and promote economic development is to address blight and contamination at the local level. By redeveloping blighted and/or contaminated infill properties and promoting the development of green buildings, greenhouse gas emission are reduced, land and existing infrastructure are recycled and people can work, recreate and live in revitalized clean urban areas. Through NBA members you can tap into a growing network of knowledge, information and experience that can help you learn how to build green on these brown sites. Through our growing chapter network of local redevelopment experts in more then 20 states and provinces, you have the ability to keep informed and connected on local and national levels—these are just a few of the reasons membership in the NBA is so valuable.

WHAT DO WE DO?
The NBA is constantly increasing brownfield awareness in government, industry and communities to show the positive economic and environmental benefits that sustainable brownfield redevelopment has on the local economy. This is accomplished through:

Events—NBA events are offered locally, nationally and internationally. An NBA event is the place where industry leaders and practitioners exchange ideas about current market trends, share redevelopment experiences and come to make new contacts in the public and private sector that are involved with green building and brownfield redevelopment.

Education and Training—In order to ensure that public and private sector interests are kept up to date on the latest trends, technologies, and policies and legislation, the NBA offers an extensive lineup of educational and training opportunities.

InformationWhether it’s through Brownfield News & Sustainable Development magazine, NBA’s Dirt e-Talk newsletter, Action Alerts, and timely information posted on individual chapter Web pages, members can stay up to date on trends and information. Through our online Property Referral Network, NBA members can promote transactions and generate business opportunities by posting properties for sale and listing Request for Proposals (RFPs).

Whatever your needs, look to the National Brownfield Associations as your guide to the brownfield industry and your connection to sustainability.
