NBA NJ MEETS WITH SENATOR BOB SMITH AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL SECTION OF THE BAR

NBA NJ co-sponsored a dinner meeting with the Environmental Section of the New Jersey Bar on December 11, 2007, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Tim Kinsella, chair of NBA NJ’s Policy and Legislation Committee, supported by Colleen Kokas (NBA NJ vice president) and member Neil Yoskin, Esq. TRENTON HOSTS WORKSHOP ON BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT IN UNDERCAPITALIZED COMMUNITIES

Douglas Palmer, mayor of Trenton, N.J., president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and past president of NBA NJ, welcomed over 100 brownfield stakeholders to an innovative workshop on building strong neighborhoods in undercapitalized communities on December 10, 2007, at the Trenton Marriott, a former brownfield site. The workshop attracted local government managers, government and nonprofit community development professionals, and citizen activists who often are underrepresented at other brownfield programs held in this and other states. Brownfield Session at NJ League of Municipalities Conference Features 3 Speakers from NBA NJ Chapter

NBA NJ Chapter Vice Presidents Colleen Kokas of NJDEP and Mike Sylvester of Whitman Companies were joined by Sue Boyle of NJDEP and Donna Rendeiro of NJDCA (non-member) as panelists at a session entitled Brownfields Tools for Redevelopment, held on November 15, 2007 in Atlantic City. Attended by 40 municipal officials, the NJ NBA representatives were joined on the panel by Senator Paul Sarlo (District 26; also Mayor of Wood-Ridge), Mayor Burzichelli of Paulsboro, and Lew Goldshore, Esq., the environmental counsel to the League of Municipalities.
