A short list is maintained on the home page for the MDEQ GARD, called the "Brownfield Marketplace" (featuring available properties for persons interested in purchasing or leasing a brownfield property). The links to the individual property pages were not working on the day visited (2/20/06).

There is also a link at the bottom of the page called "Brownfield Inventory", which leads to the full list of State CERCLA/Uncontrolled Sites (1533 sites on 2/20/06) in Excel. The sites featured inteh "Brownfield Marketplace" are included on this list. The list has some limited information for each site (lat/long, type of contaminant, type of remediation, etc.).

Site ID and location methods:
The "Brownfield Marketplace" includes a link for each featured site to a Terraserver aerial photo showing the site. The Excel list of CERCLA/Uncontrolled Sites has a sequential number ofr each site and includes the lat/long coordinates.

Definition:
A brownfield is defined as, under certain legal exclusions and additions, real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.
