About the NBA and NBA Canada

The National Brownfield Association (NBA), based in Chicago was established in 1999 as a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to stimulating the responsible redevelopment of brownfields. The NBA is the premier association for government, businesses and individuals involved in the redevelopment of brownfields.

In 2001, the NBA established Chapters to better serve its members and address redevelopment issues at a state/provincial level. In 2004, the NBA broadened its reach and established NBA Canada and the Ontario Chapter. Working together in Canada and the US, NBA Canada and NBA benefit from each other’s experiences and make up a growing international network of industry leaders that redevelop brownfields.

The NBA is the only group that represents the wide array of brownfield stakeholders – property owners, developers, investors, service professionals and government representatives. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of professionals, whether they are individual or corporate members. NBA’s strength comes from its balanced, diverse membership, consisting of senior executives from both the public and private sectors.

NBA’s mission is carried out through three primary conduits – information, education, and events. We are the “go to” organization for information on the brownfield market, and through our Web site, email updates and Brownfield News magazine, we have the ability to keep our members well informed of changing market conditions, policy and legislation.

We encourage you to become a member and be part of this growing network of professionals who are advancing the brownfield market.
